President’s Message

Message from the President of the “State Archers of California” (USA Archery State Association)

It has come to our attention that a separate organization, the Southern California Archery Association (SCAA), has been formed recently. State Archers of California (SAC) is the only California State Association recognized by USA Archery.

While we support opportunities for archers to participate in the sport, we want to clarify that the SCAA is not the California State Association and its events are not part of the California State Ranking System.

To be eligible for the California State Ranking System, archers must compete in all three of the following championship events:

  • California State Indoor Championship
  • California State Outdoor Championship
  • Pacific Coast Championship

In addition to these required events, archers may earn additional ranking points by participating in designated ancillary events. However, ancillary events are only considered after all three required championship events have been completed. Lean more here

Please note that events hosted by the Southern California Archery Association (SCAA) do not count towards the California State Ranking System and may not be substituted for any of the required championship events or ancillary events. These are two separate organizations with separate event schedules and purposes.

However, if SCAA events are registered as World Archery Star events, and follow all rules of World Archery, USA Archery and State Archers of California in an event held in California, records set by California archers qualify for state records.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions. I can be reached at president@calarchery.net

Thank you,
Rick Carfrae
